Godalming Town Ladies 6-1 Claygate Royals
Godalming went into this game feeling pretty confident, they have been playing well and knew that they should get a result out of this game. Indeed during the first half Godalming held the majority of the possession with Claygate giving away the ball time and time again. Countless runs were made towards the Claygate goal with efforts just not quite getting the desired result. Godalming were passing and moving well so it was of great frustration when a critical error allowed a stray Claygate striker to run through and put the away team 1-0 up. This seemed only to spur Godalming on though.

The runs and shots poured down towards the Claygate goal and it didn't take long to get the equaliser from Louise Skerry. Before the half had finished Ruth Williams, who had obviously been watching tapes of Emma Nicholson's infamous chip and dip goal from last season, showed Nicholson how it was done; as the ball rose over the Claygate defence it took a minute for everyone to realise the ball had actually fallen into the back of the net.

Emma, obviously realising her chip and dip crown had been taken away went out to prove herself by creating countless runs and opportunities to put Godalming further in the lead - a long distance shot produced a great save from the Claygate goalie. She could not hold out for long though and Amanda Hollwey put another goal away to make it 3-1 to Godalming. After this Claygate's shaky defence seemed to completely fall away. Three more goals were scored in quick succession from Becky Munro 2 and Louise Skerry and Godalming walked away with an easy 6-1 victory.

Manager Kevin Shephed commented "the girls are starting to gel now and with such a small squad I was impressed with their desire. We are still looking for players to bolster this team so please contact me on 01483 428956 if you are interested in joining us".
